"Faces of the Earth of Salernes" is an in-situ photographic project aimed at showcasing the artisans of Salernes through giant photographs of potters and ceramicists in the streets of the village...

 


The portraits, created by the artist photographer/plastician Benjamin BĒNI, pay tribute to the craftsmanship of men and women, conveying a collective memory. They also serve as a trace of their presence in the region.

Selected randomly, a dozen Salerno ceramicists and potters agreed to participate. After an interview about their background, profession, and future projects, they agreed to pose for Béni's camera.

The portraits of the ceramicists are black and white prints to which the artist has added a touch of color, using Salernes clay, after pasting.

At Terres Cuites des Launes, Patrick Azone, our production manager, took on the challenge. A documentary film will soon be released, tracing the various stages of the project, from the initial meetings to the discovery of the portraits in the streets of Salernes, including the photo shoots...
